During the yarn dyeing process, mistakes happen. Dye breaks, creating spots of unexpected color; the dye distributes unevenly; the acidity of the dye bath is incorrect and changes the color of the dye; the ties on the yarn get too tight and cause bare spots; and the list goes on and on!! However, there is nothing actually damaged about the yarn, and most of the time these skeins are still incredibly gorgeous! So to help reduce waste and get pretty yarn into your hands, we have Applesauce Skeins - the skeins that had one of those things happen, and therefore didn't pass our quality control checks. After all, you can make pretty good applesauce with apples that are a little bruised!
