About Us
Welcome to Apple Blossom Yarn!
We are a mother-daughter duo who have been yarn crafting for years and finally decided to take the plunge into yarn dyeing. Our name stems from our grandmother, Bessie Lucille, who shared her love of crafting with Kristen, who in turn inspired Sari. Bessie was an Apple Blossom Princess here in Washington State in 1939. She enjoyed many different crafts and was an accomplished crocheter, sewist, cross-stitcher, baker, and cake decorator - just to name a few of her talents! She is dearly missed, but it gives us great joy to honor her legacy by naming our business after her!
Meet the Dyers!
Hi, I'm Kristen! I've been knitting and crocheting for 20+ years. I am a busy and sometimes overwhelmed wife, mom, nana, and RN. I love to crochet because of the connection it gives me with my grandma. Some of my most treasured memories and keepsakes are the dolls, clothes, and items she made for me, and her generosity inspired my love for the handcrafted gift. I love to make amigurumi stuffies and lovies for my grandbabies and other kids in my life, and I'm getting more excited about branching out into clothing, too! I love color, and I find myself getting inspiration for colorways from books, nature, pop-culture, and my family.
Hello! I'm Sari. I've been crocheting for about 10 years and knitting for around 2 years. I love learning new things, but I also crave routines and rituals, which makes yarn crafting a perfect hobby for me. I almost never make the same pattern twice, and almost every project includes a new technique, stitch, or construction - but I still find it soothing because of the meditative nature of the craft! I have soooo many ideas for colorways I'd like to develop, and I can't wait to share more about myself and my future yarn-dyeing! For now, I'll say that I'm often inspired by my favorite TV shows and movies, as well as nature, music, and books!
Last but not least, we also want to introduce Skye! Skye is another one of Kristen's kids and a very busy high schooler, but they have been helping us out when they have time! Skye is hoping to continue to learn more about yarn dyeing with us as well as develop a collection of their own someday!
