Discontinued Bases
COSMIC SOCK UPDATE!!!
As of January 2025, we are switching our Cosmic Sock base from our 90/10 4 ply base to an 85/15 4 ply base with the same exact micron count and yardage. These yarns are nearly identical in look and feel, and the ONLY reason for the update is quality control on our end. We have loved our 90/10 base, but for some reason it gives us the most errors (dye striking oddly, splotchiness, etc) of any other base we carry, leading to lots of redyes/overdyes, which is very costly for us! We still have quite a lot of the 90/10 base in stock, so if you purchase from the Ready to Ship section you will still receive the original 90/10 yarn, but any new yarn going forward will be dyed on the 85/15.
Sock Weight:
- Discontinued Sock A (4ply): 85% Superwash Merino Wool, 15% Nylon. 437 yards per 100 grams. (We switched suppliers - this yarn is incredibly similar to our current Cosmic Sock base!)
- Discontinued Sock B (4ply): 75% Superwash Merino Wool, 25% Nylon. 437 yards per 100 grams. (This base dyes up beautifully, but we switched to a very similar but slightly softer wool.)
- Cosmic Sock (4ply): 90% Superwash Merino Wool, 10% Recycled Nylon. 437 yards per 100 grams. (Updated base, see new Cosmic Sock details above!)
- Dazzle Sock (4ply): 75% Superwash Merino Wool, 15% Nylon, 10% Stellina. 437yd/100g. (updated to superwash Shaniko wool, see above!)
Size-Inclusivity
Size-Inclusivity is important to us. We don't want to limit fat makers to sweater quantity discounts alone. So, if your clothing project (not blanket) takes 5 to 7 skeins, use code APPLE10 for 10% off your order. If your clothing project uses 8 or more skeins, use code APPLE15 for 15% off your order. You can mix and match colors and bases for your project, but if you plan to purchase yarn for a different project or person at the same time, please place separate orders. We really appreciate it! For Dyed to Order purchases, we decided to make it simpler and offer 15% off if you spend $170 or more, AKA 6 or more skeins for your project. Use code LOVE15 for Dyed to Order! Also, always feel free to contact us if you have a specific project in mind, and we'd be happy to discuss applying these discounts to a custom order!
HEY! STRAIGHT SIZED FOLKS! Please use these codes as intended so that we can continue to help make yarn crafting more accessible for all bodies. Thank you so much!
Disclaimers
Product Photography Disclaimer
We put in a great deal of effort to portray our yarn accurately, but every phone and computer screen is different. Please know that in different lighting or in person, the yarn you receive may be a slightly different color than what you saw online.
Additionally, hand-dyed yarn has a little more character than commercially produced yarns, so variations from skein to skein are to be expected. If you feel your product is in error or that we misrepresented what you purchased, please contact us right away so we can communicate about how to make it right. You can contact us through our website on the Contact tab or email us at info@appleblossomyarn.com.
Caring for your hand-dyed yarn
All of our yarn would be best served to be hand washed in cool water with some wool wash and blocked flat to dry. If you do choose to machine wash, make sure it is with one of our superwash bases (Baby Alpaca Suri is not superwash), wash on the most delicate cycle with cool water, and spin dry or dry on the lowest temperature. Some felting may still occur if you choose to machine wash.
Keep an eye out for color bleeding!
We thoroughly wash, rinse, and soak our yarn before we send it out, but some dye bleeding may still occur, especially on the first few washes. Using color catchers, cool water, and/or add a little vinegar to your first few washes to help prevent bleeding from having a negative effect on your finished project.
Alternating Skeins
Depending on your project, you may want to consider alternating skeins for a more blended look in your crafted items. We will always do our best to send out orders from the same dye lots, but we dye in very small batches so that is not always entirely possible. If you would like help deciding if you should alternate skeins, please reach out to us! Troubleshooting these kinds of things is actually super fun for us and we want you to be satisfied with your finished piece!
Pet Disclaimer
We dye in a home studio, and we both have pets (cats and dogs). The cat is not allowed in the dyeing space, but there is a possibility of pet hair traveling into our dyeing area from our clothes.
